Chalet Host

Chalet 1802 are looking for enthusiastic and friendly chalet hosts to join our team, who are efficient, flexible and conscientious in their approach to work. To get the most out of a ski season you'll need to be prepared to work hard, be energetic and love working with people. The ski season is a fantastic way to spend the winter and although the hours can be demanding and long, your rewards are plenty of time on the mountainside and a great social life. It is an excellent way to experience working in the hospitality industry and the ideal way to meet a wide range of new and interesting people. The start of the season is very hectic and many staff find they are under pressure, as can be expected when you start a new job away from home. We can assure you that once you have completed your pre season, 10 day training course and have a few week's experience in your chalet, it all slots into place and your routine will run smoothly and more efficiently as the season goes on.

The role of a Chalet Host is to over see the running of an individual chalet. You will work along side a Chef who will be responsible for menu planning, budgeting, shopping, food preparation and serving. However, your jobs will overlap and we would expect you to assist each other in your work so that you run your chalet to the very best of your ability. As a team, the chalet host and chef will ensure that guests are comfortable and enjoying a high standard of personal service for which Chalet 1802 is renowned.

You can generally expect to work the morning, followed by the afternoon off, before returning to your chalet hosting duties for the evening.

As a guide your role will include:

  • All housekeeping duties (daily cleaning of all bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry room, ski room etc)
  • Liasing with the cook regarding ordering of cleaning equipment
  • Serving at table during all meal times and assisting the chef in the kitchen during meals

  • Liasing with The Resort Manager over lift pass requirements, liasing with ski shops over ski hire equipment, liasing with Ski schools re ski lessons

  • Liasing with the resort manager on a regular basis to discuss booking & guest details
  • Reporting any damage/breakages to the chalet maintenance team
  • Driving guests to the slopes in the morning & collection after skiing. Day time kids ski school runs may be required occasionally but will be done as part of a rota
  • You will be responsible for stock controls of certain foods & wines. Liase with Resort Manager to re order stock
  • Organising your petty cash and associated accounts, submitting to the resort manager on a weekly basis
  • Snow clearing
  • Collecting and returning guests from Geneva airport on change over day
  • Assisting with baggage and general change over day deliveries

A full and clean driving licence is required with a minimum of 5yrs driving experience. Previous experience of driving a minibus and experience of driving in winter conditions would be useful.
