Chamonix Summer Holidays
With the snow all but gone Chamonix recasts itself as a lively summer outdoor activity resort with a bewildering array of activities available for thrill seekers and sightseers alike. As one of the few alpine resorts with year round appeal Chamonix draws mountain bikers, walkers and climbers alike. It really is possible to do as much or as little as you like from climbing Mont Blanc to a slightly more sedate round of golf with a spectacular mountain backdrop of soaring peaks and tumbling glaciers. The only difficult decision you’'ll face in Chamonix in the summer is deciding what activity you’d like to do, and how best to make the most of your time. With this in mind our resort managers are always on hand to help advise, organise and book activities, restaurants and instructors leaving you more time to relax and enjoy yourself.
With all it's lifts running during the summer months Chamonix’'s beautiful balcony walks and downhill bike tracks are easily accessible. You can wind up the mountain side though pine forests on the Montenvers tramway before visiting the famous Mer de Glace and stopping for lunch overlooking the glacier. Or, for the more adventurous, the Aiguille du Midi cable car will whisk you up to a height of 3842m from where you can enjoy breathtaking views over France, Italy and Switzerland. Or perhaps just a stroll round the Saturday market with its array of fresh local produce and regional artefacts. If you want to see a little more of the region then a day trip through the Mont Blanc tunnel into the Aosta region of Italy offers up a different cuisine and culture; and less than an hour away is Annecy with its idyllic setting by the lake encircled by mountains. This Venice of the Alps’ has a stunning old town populated with interesting shops and bustling restaurants. All our properties are available on a self catered basis in the summer, although a catered option can be arranged if desired.
